Social Work
"Social Work is a tertiary qualified profession, recognized nationally and internationally that supports individuals, families, groups and communities to improve their well being. Principles of social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversity are central to the profession and are underpinned by theories of social work, social sciences, humanities and Indigenous knowledge," (AASW, 2023).

LYW was founded by a Social Worker whose passion lies in early intervention and prevention work with vulnerable families and individuals living with disabilities.

Counselling and Therapeutic Supports
LYW offers Neurodivergent affirming counselling and therapeutic supports (these can be individual or group based therapy). As LYW is a mobile outreach service, we offer in-home counselling, more casual walk and talk therapy or counselling sessions in an area of your preference (whether this be a local park or somewhere that provides safety in your sensory and emotional processing needs). LYW aims to adapt therapeutic approaches, tools and styles that best meet each clients individualized needs.

Training and Workshops
LYW offers specialized workshops and in-service training to other professionals to provide advocacy and education in areas such as; Child Protection in Disability and The role of Social Work in the NDIS.
To discuss training and workshops for yourself or your organisation/business, please use the Contact Us form or send an email to admin@lywsocialwellbeing.com.au

Lighting Your Way Social Wellbeing currently offers supports to individuals and families that are funded by the NDIA.
(We are currently not a registered NDIS provider, however are working hard towards becoming one to ensure full accessibility.)
We also offer training and workshops for other organisations and supports that would like more understanding in different areas of the social support networks.

How we can support you
Bio/Psychosocial assessments & professional reports
LYW prides itself on comprehensive Biopsychosocial assessments as a core clinical tool across our work.

Social Workers “use a multi-dimensional, ‘person-in-environment’ approach. When Social Workers
commence work with a person, they undertake comprehensive and evidence informed psychosocial
assessments. Their professional education provides an appreciation of the impact that intrinsic personal factors, combined with familial, social, environmental and cultural factors have on development, health and wellbeing. Unlike other forms of assessment, Social Workers use an interactive and systemic analysis; and this bio/psychosocial assessment process is the unique core of Social Work practice.,” (AASW, 2023)

Assessments completed by LYW Social Workers also include a variety of clinical assessment tools such as; WHODAS, Vineland-3, ABAS-3, LSP-16, CANS etc.
